An ideal teacher should have many qualities of head and heart. He is remembered by his students for a long time. He has lasting effect on his student. He is the one who is loved and respected by every student. He establishes a kind of relationship between himself and his students.

An ideal teacher should be scholarly and proficient in his subject. He should teach in an interesting way. He should be able to arouse students’ interest in the subject. He deals with the subject well. He should express himself clearly, he should have a good voice and he must have love for teaching. The students should develop under his teaching.

An ideal teacher makes his students think. He passes information to them, and develops in them love for learning. He activates the minds of his students. He teaches them how to think and grow logical power. He brings into play the innate mental faculties of his students. He must be a man of ideas. He should explain things clearly in an interesting manner.

An ideal teacher is a man of character. He is honest, hard working, punctual, clean, soft-spoken, welfare-minded, self-respecting, confident; and he possesses leadership qualities. He leads his students from ignorance to learning.

An ideal teacher uses a good language. He does not use difficult sentences or words. His level of teaching is easy or difficult as per the standard of students he teaches. His teaching is like a tonic to the mind.

An ideal teacher must be a cultured and civilized man. He should have a sense of duty and responsibility. He should be honest to himself, to his students and to his profession. He constructs the future citizens of the country, so his job is very important. He is an engineer of the soul. In other words, he is a student’s friend, philosopher and guide.

Students worship a teacher who remains impartial and treats all his students alike. The worth of a teacher is not measured by the amount of money he earns, but by the amount of help which he render to students. If he is fearless, earnest and sincere in duties and is sympathetic towards his students, he is bound to be the object of their devotion and admiration.
