Short Essay on Conservation of Wildlife

Short Essay on Conservation of Wildlife
Rapid deforestation, growth of towns and cities, construction of dams and roads, growth of industry are the chief causes which pose a serious threat to wildlife. These manmade activities have polluted the environment and disturbed the ecological balance. The forest areas are on the wane. Naturally, it has an adverse impact on the forest life. Beasts and birds are an integral part of our forests, but they have become extinct due to hunting and poaching, clearing of forests for agriculture, industry, residence and other developmental activities, as theses activities result in the destruction of their habitat. They cannot win this struggle for survival as they find themselves helpless before the ‘mighty’ man. Many species of animals have already become extinct, as man hunts them wantonly for flesh, fun and money. The process of extinction of wildlife continues unabated. In the past, animals had to face the ravages of nature, but not the threat from human greed which is responsible for the decline of wildlife. Most animals live in forest and make it alive. They maintain the ecological balance. They are asset to us in every sense of the word. Naturally, it is our duty to conserve them in our own interest. If we endanger their existence, we ourselves are bound to fall in graver danger. So, let us conserve them at least for our own sake.
