The National Flag of India is known as Tricolour or Tiranga.
It became the official flag of Republic of India on 15 August 1947.
The ratio of length to breadth of  Our National Flag is 3:2.
It has three horizontal stripes of colours: saffron, white and green.
All the three stripes should be parallel and equal in length and width.
Saffron on the top of tricolour denotes courage and selflessness.
The white in the centre is light, the path of truth to guide our conduct.
The green stripe on the bottom represents faith, fertility and prosperity.
The "Ashoka Chakra" represents the dynamism of a peaceful change.
The flag should be made of khadi, made popular by Mahatma Gandhi.
The flag is based on the “Swaraj Flag” designed by Pingali Venkayya.
National Flag symbolizes India’s pride for its land and diversity.
