Now-a-days goods made from plastic and polymer have flooded the market. There are many reasons for their widespread use. They are portable, handy and durable. Plastic is used on a large scale for packaging, insulation of wires and cables, making different goodss such as pipes, toys, combs etc., while polymer is widely used for making electronic parts, toys, wares, medical instruments etc. All traders, big or small, supply their goods in plastic carry-bags. But the use of these materials adversely affects the environment. First, they are non-biodegradable. They do not decompose, that is, they do not mix with the soil and break into natural ingredients. This causes the waste to accumulate on land and results in soil pollution leading to the soil’s infertility.
